(Bruck and Janey kiss. Aaron and Foster walk in, holding hands.)
JANEY
I’m so glad you took me here. I knew it would be great because of how you talked about it. I don’t even have to order, I could just look at these all day
AARON
Excuse me, do you mind if we go ahead?
(Bruck and Janey turn around.)
JANEY
No, go ahead. We’re not in a rush.
AARON
Bruck.
BRUCK
Aaron.
AARON
Hi.
(Awkward. What should they do? They should definitely shake hands. They shake hands.)
How are you?
BRUCK
I’m good. I’m good. How are you?
AARON
I’m good.
(Aaron makes a decision.)
This is Foster. My boyfriend.
(Foster shakes hands with Bruck, then Janey.)
BRUCK

FOSTER
Pleasure. (To Janey.) Foster.
JANEY
Janey Witter.
BRUCK
Sorry. Sorry. This is Janey. My girlfriend Janey.
AARON
Oh. Hi.
(Aaron shakes Janey’s hand.)

JANEY

(Aaron waits for Bruck to field the question. He doesn’t.)
AARON
The history department. Back. Few years ago. Bruck was a TA for my uh, a class I was taking my last year of undergrad.
JANEY
Oh. What class, Bruck?
BRUCK
I don’t remember.
AARON
It was, uh. Tenorio. Yeah. History of…what was it?
BRUCK

JANEY

That was it. That was the class. Bruck helped me get through that class. He really got me through it. We spent some late nights…
BRUCK
